One watermark for everyone or one per buyer?
A logo or “sample” stamp is the same in every copy, so a shared file says nothing about who shared it. A personal watermark is made at the moment of the sale and names that buyer, which is why few buyers share it and why a found copy leads back to its order.
What should the watermark contain?
- The buyer’s name and the order number, for example “This copy was made for Alex Sample · Order #1001”.
- A calm place: a note page after the cover or at the end, or a small footer line on the pages.
- A second, invisible mark, so the copy stays traceable when someone deletes the note page.
- No change to your layout: fonts, images, links and the table of contents stay as they are.
How Pageseal marks a PDF
Pageseal adds a note page (after the cover or at the end) and, if you like, a footer line on every page except the cover. The copy ID also sits invisibly in several places of the file, so removing one is not enough. Your original page content is not rewritten, and pages without the note look exactly like your file. Password-protected PDFs are flagged during the upload check, because a personal copy needs the open file.
